As part of a rate filing, field customer service hearings are required. The Florida Public Service Commission has issued its notice of meeting dates, times and locations for the hearings to be held for the Florida Power & Light rate case. The notice can be accessed at this link- http://www.floridapsc.com/
Pertinent information on meeting dates, times and locations follows below. Please make an effort to attend one of these hearings and give testimony on the smart meters and FPL’s service. Many of you have had your analogs stolen and replaced with digital meters, without notice and consent, and some had to fight hard to get an analog back. Please let the Commission and FPL know how you feel about how they have mishandled those opting out. For those that had to accept a smart meter due to lack of funds to pay the extortion fees, this is your time to tell the Commission how you feel. If you are an AARP member, please note that AARP has intervened in this rate case and will be there too. Demand they fight for your interests and help procure a cost free opt out for struggling Floridians.
The purpose of these service hearings shall be to take testimony from the public on the quality and adequacy of FPL’s service and other matters related to FPL’s petition for a rate increase. The procedure at these hearings shall be as follows: The Company will present a brief summary of its case and then members of the public may present testimony. Members of the public who wish to present testimony are urged to appear promptly at each scheduled hearing time since the hearing may be adjourned early if no witnesses are present to testify. All witnesses shall be subject to cross examination at the conclusion of their testimony.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, persons needing a special accommodation to participate at this proceeding should contact the Office of Commission Clerk no later than five days prior to the hearings at 2540 Shumard Oak Boulevard, Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0850, via 1-800-955-8770 (Voice) or 1-800-955-8771 (TDD), Florida Relay Service.
