In June, we posted the following:
New PSC Docket Submitted by FPL Suggests Incompatibility Between “Smart” Meters and Their Enclosures? References “Heat Damage”!
More recently, the PSC website for the FP&L Docket 130160 http://www.floridapsc.com/library/FILINGS/13/04331-13/04331-13.pdf has posted the following comment from a “consumer” supporting FP&L’s request for a pilot project to study “smart” meter enclosures and associated problems FPL is experiencing.
“I WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT FPL’S REQUEST FOR A PILOT PROJECT ON SMART METERS (DOCKET # 13016-EI). THERE SEEM TO HAVE BEEN MANY ISSUES WITH THE SMART METERS AND HOPEFULLY THIS PROJECT WOULD HELP FPL IDENTTIFY [SIC] ISSUES.”
By contrast to this “consumer” supporting a FPL request which may result in fees to ratepayers to pay FOR FPL’S OWN PROBLEMS THAT CHASM AND MANY OTHERS HAVE BEEN WARNING ABOUT, we need everyone to go to the PSC website and submit a comment in support of the HEARINGS requested by the Office of Public Counsel (OPC). FP&L is fighting OPC’s request for hearings.
Make sure you reference the docket number in your correspondence. Hearings on this docket will allow Counsel to delve into smart meters and may be beneficial to us.
Remember FP&L filed a request to do a pilot to work on 400 meters that have stopped communicating. New expensive meters and they are already not working. They will fix or repair the meter enclosures for these meters, but there are many more and possibly more that will stop functioning in the future.
We need some hard questions asked because FP&L was supposed to inspect the meter boxes upon initial installation and fix them if there were problems. If they did this, then why are so many not communicating?
All the Docket filings can be found here at the below link:
You can either use their web form which can be found here http://www.floridapsc.com/about/contact/form.aspx or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or e-mail the Commissioners directly.
If e-mailing, then “cc” the attorney assigned to this case; her name is Kathryn Cowdery and her e-mail is kcowdery@PSC.STATE.FL.US
Your e-mail does not have to be that long. Just say you are writing in support of the Office of Public Counsels request for public hearings. It is important that questions be asked to as to why these new and expensive meters that were just installed have failed to operate, as well as why FP&L is asserting problems may lie in meter enclosures when they were supposed to inspect and fix all problem enclosures upon installation of the smart meters.
Please pass along to others.
